Update from Toronto
Sorry about the spotty updates here on the honeymoon... we've been... you know... honeymooning! We had a wonderful train ride from Stratford to Toronto, and agreed with many of our fellow passengers that train travel is simply more civilised than most other methods that we could have chosen for getting about the great province of Ontario for our trip. After finding a hotel here in Toronto we settled in to The Grange Hotel and set out to see what we could see. We are only a block from Kensington Market (just off of Toronto's Chinatown) which is an awesome neighbourhood that is filled with cute shops, great restaurants, and tons of other cool stuff. After shopping around and trying to avoid rain showers we headed to the Downtown Yonge Street area to play the tourist in Dundas Square. Friday found us in downtown again visiting Donald's cousin Paul and getting a look inside the RBC Capital Markets floor (after a small snafu involving the lack of pants). As news of the House's vote for the bailout bill was just breaking it was a very cool time to be inside the financial system as an observer. We said good-bye to Paul and headed back out to do some more shopping before going back to Kensington Market for dinner at Torito Tapas Bar. We had a most excellent dinner that included a heirloom tomato salad to remember for a while. Then we wandered down to The Village Idiot Pub for drinks. They had a great selection of local beers including a great Ontario beer called Waterloo Dark from the Brick Brewing Company. Today has been a slower day for us as we got up and went to the St. Lawrence Market, which is the oldest market in Toronto. After a great lunch of local cheese and some other goodies that we brought with us we napped and chilled at the hotel most of the afternoon in preparation for this evening. Tonight in Toronto is the city-wide all night contemporary art thing Nuit Blanche. There will be lots of pictures and more news as we get back to town and have a chance to write up more, but for now we are going to go and run 'round about town and enjoy the art! See you all soon - D&T
